My heart in your hands
My heart in your hands, by Louise Docker

Obedience of the Heart

'God's gift is real life'

At the bottom of the heart of every human being, from earliest infancy until the tomb, there is something that goes on indomitably expecting, in the teeth of all experience of crimes committed, suffered, and witnessed, that good and not evil will be done to him. It is this above all that is sacred in every human being.
By Simone Weil

What do we mean by obedience to the heart?

Do we mean telling our heart (organ) what to do, how to work? Keep beating, beat regularly?

Compassion

We are called to offer compassion and welcome

Do we close ourselves off from those who are: different; homeless; marginalised; poor?

How do others see God's hospitality, generosity and compassion in us?

We are blessed to be a blessing - to others and the world; called to share our thanksgiving.

Called to demonstrate the 'abundant' life - that is recklessly gracious, generous and compassionate

-> peace, joy, just and loving
